The house

Kervran is a traditionally restored stone longère — a long, low Breton farmhouse — in a quiet hamlet near Pluvigner, in inland Morbihan.

Downstairs, one long room runs from sitting room through dining room to kitchen, under whitewashed beams and bare stone walls. A woodburner for cool evenings, a piano, and tall glazed doors onto the garden.

Upstairs, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Outside, a terrace, a private garden, and the quiet of the Breton countryside.

It wasn’t built for tourists. It’s a house.

I read the emails myself. A question about the house, the area, or a particular week? Write to me.

The hamlet, and around it

Kervran sits in a hamlet of a few houses, deep in the countryside. What you hear is birds, and wind in the trees. Cats from the neighbouring houses wander through as they please.

The coast is half an hour away: the standing stones at Carnac, the Étel estuary, the beaches of the bay. Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan are thirty minutes, Lorient forty, and the Quiberon peninsula an hour.

It is a good compromise — the sea within easy reach, and silence in the evening.

Good to know

Pets
Dogs are welcome by arrangement — write to me before booking. Cats cannot be accommodated inside the house, because of a severe allergy. Cats from the hamlet do roam freely outdoors.
Whole house
The house and garden are yours alone. Nothing is shared.
Sleeping
Six beds. I’d suggest four adults and two children — the two rooms under the eaves suit children or teenagers better.
Utility room and desk
Washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. A desk under the stairs, with fibre broadband.
No smoking
The house is entirely non-smoking. The terrace and garden are yours.
A car
Essential. The hamlet isn’t served by public transport. Parking on site.

Common questions

Is it really quiet?
Yes. The hamlet is a handful of houses with no through traffic. The loudest thing, most mornings, is the birds.
Can I bring my dog?
By arrangement, and usually gladly — write to me before booking so we can talk it through. Cats, though, can’t come inside the house, because of a severe allergy.
Do I need a car?
Yes. There is no public transport to the hamlet, and both the coast and the shops need driving to.
Does it suit young children?
Families are very welcome. The staircase to the upper floor is open, so with very young children, write to me before booking and we’ll work out what to put in place.
Can I work from here?
Yes — fibre reaches the whole house, and there’s a desk under the stairs, out of the way.
What if I need to cancel?
Up to 14 days before you arrive, you are refunded in full — no fee, and no explanation needed. After that the stay is payable, simply because that is the point at which it becomes hard for us to offer the house to anyone else. A single email is enough to cancel.
Why book here rather than through a platform?
Because the price is lower — no commission is added. And because you deal with me directly, before and during your stay.
